PickTrace is proud to be a team of diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and interests. Each month we highlight members of our team to learn about what makes them, and PickTrace, unique.

Get to know our Implementation Manager, Michelle Ramirez! Michelle joined PickTrace’s U.S. team in early 2019 and has been ensuring our customers are set up to successfully use PickTrace ever since! Though it hasn’t quite been a year, we don’t know what we’d do without her!

Describe yourself in 25 words or less:
I have a colorful personality and a big heart.  11 words, baby!

Where did you grow up and what is your favorite memory of that place?

I grew up in El Monte which is in the San Gabriel Valley which is in Los Angeles which is in SoCal. My favorite memories are of playing outside with my friends in the summertime. I’d go outside at 10am and go inside when the sun set. So. Much. Joy.

In school, what was your preferred subject and why?
I loved English because I got to read books (which to me felt like watching movies) and then we’d analyze the book (which felt like gossiping with my friends about what so-and-so really meant).

How do you like to spend your free time? Any hobbies of note?
I really enjoy exploring! LA is so massive and beautiful- it’s fun to pick a street or neighborhood and just walk around to see what I encounter.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know that I once had a parasite in my leg from laying in the sand in Costa Rica. I mean, the sand was black and smooth as butter. I had never seen anything like it and I just had to lay in it. Worth it!

Before PickTrace, what was your most interesting or unusual job?
This wasn’t really a job, but one of the first ways that I made money was in high school when I sold a bunch of my sister’s handbags and clothes on ebay.  All of the items were things she wasn’t using anymore, but when she found out what I was doing she got a 5% cut! Such a big sister move.

How would you describe your current role to a child?
I teach people who work on farms how to use these cool scanners that keep track of all the fruit that was picked.

What has been your proudest moment since joining the PT team?

We had a customer email us to say that working with PickTrace has been one of her favorite projects to date. It made me feel proud that as a collective team we’ve had such a positive impact because that’s what we’re here to do!

What is your favorite part of working for PickTrace?

The people! My coworkers are a big group of ambitious, kind, funny, super smart people and I genuinely enjoy working with them.

Finally, and most importantly, if you were a piece of produce what would you be and why?

A jalapeno because I add spice to life!
