Before PickTrace, what was your most interesting or unusual job/work experience?
- Something I really enjoyed was being a Spanish tutor when I was in college. I felt like I was making a difference with these students and it taught me early on that I wanted to be a teacher or professor and I learned that there’s no one way to teach someone – everyone is different and needs a different approach
- For a couple months right when I graduated college I worked in a recycling place my friend opened. It was interesting getting to know the regulars.
What is your favorite part of being an Implementation Manager?
- The aspect of teaching and helping others – whether its individuals in the field or those individuals in the office. I always feel good about myself when I help others – it gives me joy.
- One of the big reasons I work for PickTrace is that I feel that we are solving a real issue and ensuring people are paid accurately
You’ve been with PickTrace just over two years now- What’s a favorite memory from your time here?
- A few months after I first started, Kalyn organized a meetup at Six Flags for the entire IM team and that was the first time I met everyone in person. It was the first time my department was together – and it was a fun event just getting to know each other.
What are your hobbies and passions outside of work?
- I consider myself a pretty simple person – ‘simplicity at scale’ haha
- I try to stay active, I play soccer on my time off and coach and play basketball sometimes, I like to go to the gym
- I spend time with my wife, we’ll watch TV and movies, go on walks with our dogs, go to the gym, and recently began doing puzzles or legos together – we made part of the flower bouquet lego set
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received – or do you have a mantra you live by?
- Treat others the way you want to be treated – that’s always resonated with me since I was a kid
If you were a fruit or vegetable what would you be and why?
- My favorite food is an avocado. They have a hard exterior but are soft on the inside. I’m not a hardcore person, but for me to open up to someone I have to get to know them. I think people think I’m very serious, but when you get to know me you realize that I’m friendly.
