PickTrace is proud to be a team of diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and interests. Each month we highlight members of our team to learn about what makes them, and PickTrace, unique.

Get to know our Software Engineering Manager, Marsel Saifullin! Since Joining PickTrace nearly a year ago, Marsel has been a total rock-star within our engineering team- not only building out our software’s architecture, but also ensuring that the rest of his team is able to fly ahead, unhindered in their work. Basically, Marsel is top-notch and we’re deeply grateful to have him on our team!

Describe yourself in 25 words or less:
I like to think about myself as a professional who cares about details, quality and process.

Where did you grow up and what is your favorite memory of that place?
I was born and grew up in the middle of Russia, just on the border between Europe and Asia.
I know all the places in my home town and my favorite thing is the memory of them from childhood, when the sun was brighter and trees were bigger.

In school, what was your preferred subject and why?
I loved geometry until I discovered programming. After that my life was never pointless. I was last to leave the school sometimes and the campus security guards always knew where to find me.

How do you like to spend your free time? Any hobbies of note?
I love bicycles and practicing wushu. By the way, interestingly enough, it is easier to ride a bicycle after wushu class but not before.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I know a lot of stuff about different subjects and sometimes don’t even remember it. So it comes as a surprise even for myself when I’m able to support a discussion on a topic I thought I don’t know anything about.

Before PickTrace, what was your most interesting or unusual job?
The most interesting was running an internet company at a time when describing the Internet (yes, with big I) itself took longer than a product pitch.

How would you describe your current role to a child?
I make sure that more important people know what to do and don’t get lost.

What has been your proudest moment since joining the PT team?
It’s just coming. Look out for March news and delivery.

What is your favorite part of working for PickTrace?
There is nothing specific, all parts are awesome, challenging and motivational. If done right this should be amazingly rewarding also.

Finally, and most importantly, if you were a piece of produce what would you be and why?
Watermelon. Well rounded, different inside from outside.
